Hydroelectric Plant in Kikagati (UGANDA)

The hydroelectric plant is located along the Kagera River, on the border between Uganda and Tanzania.

The hydroelectric plant is entirely built in Uganda and consists of 9 meters high and 230 m long wei with the scope of creating a small basin upstream of the power plant that will make it possible to exploit the flow of the river in the most efficient way and maximize the jump and a compact power plant with nr. 3 Kaplan turbines. The hydroelectric plant is of the flowing type with a gross head of 8.5 m and a maximum flow rate of 210 m3 / s. The installed power is equal to 16 MW.

The hydroelectric plant came into operation in 2021.
